I've had a good amount of response to my recent Christmas session posts and for the Halloween charity session, but sadly most people seem put off by the fact that my studio is in my home. One person actually went as far as saying that there's no way a professional photographer would be working from home.
Well I hate to burst that bubble but there are many professional photographers who do just that. Some will have a purpose build "shed", or convert a spare room over. And some, like me, will re-arrange and move furniture from a room every time they have a session. Some do it for financial reasons, some to be able to spend more time with family, and others just because they prefer to. My reasons are my own, but it doesn't mean I put any less effort into my sessions or editing and I still have overheads, as seen on my recent electricity bill :o
The location of the space used as a studio doesn't determine the quality of the images. The photographers use of lighting, knowledge of how to use their camera settings, and editing skills are all key. The space I use now is about the same size as my old high-street studio, and actually has a better seating area for clients while I photograph their wee ones.
I have included a few examples of images shot in my home studio below to hopefully put to rest any concerns about the images that I can create here.
